Winter Activities in the Fargo-Moorhead Area

There is an adventure waiting for you and your family every season of the year when you call the Fargo-Moorhead area of North Dakota and Minnesota home. The metropolitan area has over 190 regional, community and neighborhood parks. When the snow falls and the temperatures drop the green spaces of the parks turn themselves over to the majesty of winter. Residents enjoy ice skating, ice hockey, sledding, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. Winter is also a great time to enjoy the competitive spirit of collegiate sports at North Dakota State University (including basketball, wrestling, volleyball, and club ice hockey) and cheer on the Fargo Force (United States Hockey League Tier I junior ice hockey team). The USHL team was the Western Conference league champions in 2018. They are playing hard to relive the dream for the 2022-2023 season (2nd place, 12 games into the 62 game season).

Ice Hockey Games and Collegiate Sporting Events

Ice hockey games are great family fun. Tickets for the USHL Fargo Force range in price from $11.75-$42.75 ($9.75 for students, youth, and seniors). The Family Zone in sections 103 and 104 are alcohol free and features a balloon twister and face painter. There are also “All You Can Eat & Drink” sections (one section can be upgraded, and the Black & Blue Diamond Seats include the feast).

You can buy a ticket and thaw out from the cold at a collegiate basketball game. The men’s and women's NDSU Bison games are played at the 5,830 seat Scheels Center in Fargo. General admission tickets range from $11-$21 for adults and $6-$9 for youth for the 2022 season. You can enjoy more ice hockey too, just remember to dress warmly. The NDSU Bison Men’s Club Hockey game tickets are free for NDSU students and $5 for other fans in 2022 (check the website for game location).
